Is it possible to quiet a fire alarm? Desensitize the smoke alarm by pressing the “Test/Hush” button on the smoke alarm cover. If the smoke does not get too thick, the alarm will quickly go off. If smoke or debris obstructs the sensor, the alarm will take precedence over the Hush.
